Agropelter is a progressive rock project from Norway. It is the creative outlet of Kay Olsen, a new contender on the blossoming norwegian prog scene. The music lends as much inspiration from the classic prog groups like Genesis, Camel, King Crimson and Eloy, as it does from classic composers Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Bach along with Vangelis and Terje Rypdal. On the debut album you can expect lots of Mellotron, Hammond organs, ARP, cembalo, Minimoogs and Taurus bass pedals. Kay Olsen have played all guitars, bass, church organ, and keyboard leads. Also contributing is Jonas Reingold (Steve Hackett, The Flower Kings, Kaipa, Karmakanic) on fretless bass, Mattias Olsson (Änglagård, White Willow, Molesome) on percussion, vintage synth overdubs and atmosphere, Andreas Sjøen (Umpfel, VÅDE, Sean Ashe) on drums along with lots of classical musicians on various strings and woodwinds. The record is mixed and mastered by the great Jacob Holm-Lupo (White Willow, Donner, Solstein)

Founded in Oslo, Norway in 2014
JORDSJØ is one of those bands that help me to keep my faith in Symphonic survival intact, because when I believe that there's nothing able to resurrect my capacity of surprise, this relatively new bands from countries like Norway take me by assault with original material that combines several genres creating a new breed of Symphonic.

The band was formed around 2014 by Håkon Oftung (Vocals, flute, guitars & keys) and Kristian Frøland (Drums & Percussion) and their debut "Jordsjø" saw the light on September 6, 2016, and even though blended Symphonic with some sort of Prog Folk, immediately caught my attention.
In their next album "Jordsjø II", they retake the original path, but with less folk passages but a more aggressive edge that captured me as a fan.
Their third release (Well, a joint album with the Norwegian Synth Project BREIDABLIK) "Songs From The Northern Wasteland" didn't impressed me as much, being that it was oriented towards Electronic Prog, a genre that I don.t listen very often, but it was obvious that the magic touch was there and we only had to wait and see how they would evolve.
But the moment of truth came in January 2017 when they release the fantastic "Jord", a clearly Scandinavian album, with reminiscences of ÄNGLAGÅRD, one of my top then desert island bands, but in this case apart of the pristine symphonic, they blend different sounds and styles that make the genre richer.
As usual, only time will tell and the band will decide what path to take, but I?m sure they will keep providing us interesting music that will save Symphonic Prog from oblivion.

On "From Silence to Somewhere" Wobbler cooks an enigmatic, multi flavoured and adventurous brew in the olde black cauldron. Poignant and edgy guitar riffs, melancholic and harmonious verses, powerful crescendos, energetic spinet driven passages and the odd touch of flamenco and italian recitals. Four epic songs, clocking in at 47 minutes. Thematically spun around a wondering view on metamorphosis, change and alchymism – a bit of a continuation from the previous album “Rites at Dawn”, but slightly darker and more introspective. Musically, there’s a connection to all of the three previous albums, while at the same time making new ground.
Inspiration from renaissance music and old Italian prog has seeped into the mix.

Panzerpappa is the definitive Norwegian instrumental Avant/Progressive Rock/RIO group. Their inventive and playful sound ("Progressive Rock with a friendly face") is at once reminiscent of inspirational precursors such as Samla Mammas Manna, King Crimson, Henry Cow, Univers Zero and Frank Zappa, while at the same time sounding unmistakably like ... Progressive rockband from Stavanger, Norway. They released only one record, "Bare En Blåveis" in 1976 with Johnny Sareussen as producer. The band consisted of Magne Høyland, Anders Bru, Bjørn Aslaksen, Reidar Olsen, Sveinung Sand and Tommi Haukland.
The album had all the right ingredients for a real progrock album in the 70s; long, improvisational solos, multi-thematic compositions, performances of classical and folk, parties with electric violin and drum solos. The lyrics was both in Norwegian and English and some of them collected by the poets Oscar Wilde and Hans Børli.
The band dissolved in 1977. Anders Bru startet Stavangerensemblet. Mange Høyland appeared in both Asfalt and Wasaband and Bjørn Aslaksen in Løgnaslaget and Ryfylke Visegruppe. Discog
