La Stanza Della Musica was mainly an acoustic ensemble filled with guitarists with a background in Folk Music. The act was founded in late-70's by guitarists/singers Stefano Palladino and Nazario Gargano and featured also former Chetro & Co. members Ettore De Carolis (guitars) and Franco Coletta (bass, guitars, also in post-70's Alunni del Sole) along with percussionist Adriano Giordanella, guitarist/singer Giampaolo Belardinelli and flute player Nicola Samale. Their sole self-titled album was released in 1978 on Philips.
With no less than 5 members handling classical and acoustic guitars, what more reasonable than to expect delicate and elaborate acoustic arrangements. And that is actually the truth, as ''La Stanza Della Musica'' is a crescendo of light acoustic textures with an intense singer/songwriter atmosphere and definite folky/Mediterrenean atmosphere, reminiscent of ANGELO BRANDUARDI'S early albums. However there is a bit more going on, as some of them contain smooth orchestral parts with flute sections and string arrangements, creating a beautiful romantic atmosphere. Additionally a few out of these 11 compositions feature the distric electric guitar performance of Coletta to add some extra dimension. The vocals are excellent, typical of the sensitive and harmonic Italian language, and even a track contains an interesting choir by children. Overall the album is dominated by a sweet folky mood and a tendency towards strong acoustic passages.
