Alberto Baldan Bembo – Lingua D'Argento (1976, LP, Italy)

Originally composed by maestro and orchestra conductor Alberto Baldan Bembo for the movie soundtrack "Ecco lingua d'argento", starring the sexy Carmen Villani. The album includes many spellbinding and powerful grooves filled with great basslines, dope wah wah and killer Funky sounds; a countless amount of drum beats with dancing Fender Rhodes, Disco-Funk arrangements with driving tropical percussions, dreamy cinematic strings and sexy female chorus harmonize. Top-notch stuff for any crate digger / groove hunter / beat maker / record collector and vintage music vinyl maniac out there. Incredible session, pinnacle of maestro Bembo production and a real masterpiece from the beginning to the end!

Sandro Brugnolini – Utopia (1972, LP, Italy)

Sandro Brugnolini's masterpiece "UTOPIA", originally pressed on a ridiculous run, and released on a beatiful tip-on sleeve reproducing painter Michel Seuphor's abstract art. The first official release after the recent maestro's passing, conceived with the great arrangements of Giorgio Carnini at the Hammond and piano, and the direction of maestro Franco Tamponi. A brilliant and inspired Jazz-Funk and Lounge Jazz session with just amazing sounds, driven by both dreamy and underground moods, Avant-garde Jazz refined orchestrations and gorgeous grooves.

The film "Stridulum" (Aka "The Visitor") was directed in 1979 by Giulio Paradisi. Starring Mel Ferrer, Glenn Ford, John Huston, Franco Nero, Shelley Winters, Sam Peckinpah, Joanne Nail, Lance Henriksen, Paige Conner, Ja Townsend, Jack Dorsey, Hsio Ho Chao.

Franco Micalizzi has written one of the most beautiful scores of his entire career (and one of the favourites of the composer himself), where a main theme quoting ''Also sprach Zarathustra'' in the introduction then develops into a powerful and driving funky music piece that recalls so many famous police movie themes of this author, alternated with a romantic love theme, action music and dissonant symphonic-electronic atmospheres.

A proper rescue and preservation of the Italian Silver Age and of the music art of Franco Micalizzi.

Oscar Rocchi E Il Suo Modern Sound – Erbe Selvatiche (1977, LP, Italy)

Recorded around mid '70s, this scarce Italian Library composed by maestro Oscar Rocchi was released on the same label of the infamous Giancarlo Barigozzi's WOMAN'S COLOURS, who also played in this session. One of the finest Jazz-Funk and funky library jams with terrific themes to literally die for - some of the hottest Bboy Funk beats from Italian Library vaults with stunning drums breaks, stoned flute, fuzzy guitars and Fender Rhodes solos. Loads of exciting grooves that have chipped in to make this LP just A KILLER. Huge session and very solid album from the beginning to the end!

Gianni Oddi – Style (1974, LP, Italy)

Lato 1
1 Moda D'Estate 2:58
2 Popoff  3:41
3 Dedicato A Twiggy 2:26
4 Notte A Bagdad 2:37
5 Fine Di Un Amore 3:48
6 Torte In Faccia 1:47

Lato 2
1 Chanel N°7 3:47
2 Una Giornata A Rio 2:20
3 Kimono Pop 3:28
4 Sfilata All'Hilton 3:55
5 Omertà 2:20

Style, released in 1974, was the last album issued under composer/arranger/multi-instrumentalist Gianni Oddi's leadership. Shortly thereafter, he was hired by Ennio Morricone as his principal soloist on saxophone. This album was privately issued by RCA Italy as a sound library recording; its compositions were to be leased by cinema and television productions and in commercials. While it was a common practice for independent labels, many of whose stock in trade was library music, RCA Italy only did it for a few years. Despite the contract purpose to create tunes to be used as soundtrack and serial material, on Style, Oddi delivers a masterwork in the genre; every tune fits its companions like the fingers in a glove. Writing charts that utilized the best in spiritual and mainstream creative jazz, Indian modalism, funk, and psychedelic rock, Oddi crystallized not only the library music era's peak, but the sound of early-'70s Italy in particular. It's there in the groovy Euro bossa on opener "Moda d'Estate," with its languid guitars, percolating berimbau, and a reverbed harpsichord among its keyboards. "Popoff" is heavy wah-wah guitar, distorted bass, and conga funk, with funky Rhodes piano and breakbeats all accompanied by a tight yet soaring horn section. A Middle Eastern groove woven by cellos, violins, winds, double bass, and careening tablas saturates "Notte a Bagdad," capped off by an outside saxophone solo. "Fine di un Amore" is lithe, languid bossa jazz, with luminous strings, spacy Rhodes, and shimmering hand-brushed percussion. "Torte in Faccia" is campy pop-psych ragtime with harpsichords, synths, toy pianos, guitars, and a one-two snare drum pop. While it's the weakest tune here, it's a fine precursor to "Chanel N.7," a sensual, atmospheric jazz tune, with lovely flute and gorgeous interplay between sparkling electric piano and resonant vibraphone. The fiery psychedelic samba on "Una Giornato a Rio" is answered by tripped-out jazzy funk on "Kimono Pop." Style is a stone killer top to bottom; it's a fitting sendoff to Oddi's years as a bandleader. A thorough, painstaking remaster has been reissued in Schema's Easy Series imprint with excellent sound. Masaru Imada Trio +2 – Green Caterpillar (1975, LP, Japan)

Tracklist:
A1 A Green Caterpillar - 11:24
A2 Straight Flash - 10:27
B1 Blue Impulse - 10:28
B2 Spanish Flower - 11:15

Musicians:
Bass – Isoo Fukui
Congas, Percussion – Yuji Imamura
Drums – Tetsujiro Obara
Guitar – Kazumi Watanabe
Piano – Masaru Imada

Japanese jazz is sadly one of best-kept secret. But, it would be stupid to not discover "Green Caterpillar" by Masaru Imada trio + 2. Led by Masaru Imada and his Fender Rhodes, the record opens with " A Green Caterpillar", a 11 minutes piece whose the groove is somewhat reminiscent of Marc Moulin and his Placebo band. "A Straight Flash" continues along this line, while on "Blue Impulse" and "Spanish Flower" Masaru Imada uses the piano in a much more modal style.

Franco Micalizzi – Roma A Mano Armata (Original Soundtrack) (2011, CD, Italy)

Taken from the 1976 movie directed by Umberto Lenzi.

Inconfondibile. Inarrestabile.
