Five years after their debut Moogg return with new bassist Roberto Matiz and release their second work ''Italian luxury style'' (Mellow Records). Much of the debut's diversity has been gone and sacrified in the name of a jazzier sound close to the likes of the Canterbury Scene and the hottest Italian Jazz Rock groups of the 70's. The bulk of the album is heavily influenced by British Canterbury Prog and acts like Hatfield and the North, Caravan or Matching Mole, featuring romantic/warm vocals when apparent, smooth synth lines and elegant electric piano, jazzy guitar twists. But not everything in here is gentle and non-offensive, the sudden breaks are regular entries in the compositions and lift the cuts to the next level. There also lots of funky elements with piano and clavinet in evidence as well as clean Jazz Rock tunes in the vein of Perigeo or Napoli Centrale. Not as good as the debut, still rewarding and containing quite a few fascinating instrumental exercises. (apps79)
