L'imbroglio – Krar / Qelt (2007, CD, Italy)

Krar and Qelt are two separate works for trio, each subdivided in several parts or segments. Presented in the booklet as "improvised sonic thoughts", the music is indeed about free form, rhythmic minimalism or slowly raising explosions with a noisy edge (the guitarist makes an important use of his jacks and amp, the electronics are used to morph the sounds or alter their shapes), disturbing or unquiet atmospheres, etc... Common to the elaboration of the two pieces is the presence of drummer Lucio Bonaldo (also founder of the band) and guitarist Gi Gasparin; the main difference between the two pieces will have to be found in the third member, Emiliano Brescacin (bass and electronics) on Krar, trumpetist Enrico Antonello on Qelt. The music makes an important use of atonality, dissonances, spacy sounds, percussive rumbling, fractal playing; not easy to categorize in any box, it is anyway imo not very far from the musical universe of a band like Mexican Decibel and certainly NOT for the fainted heart! L'Imbroglio is an Italian band based in the Venezian area, with 3 releases in own name made between 2005 and 2010.
