Another of those obscure 70's Italian Library Music projects, which had some evident Prog branches. Ran by composers Antonio Vuolo and Elio Grande (with one Rino Diaferio handling multiple instruments), ''Desert'' was released in 1978 on the unknown Cardium label and featured a heavily synth-driven sound, starting from electronic orientations and sinking into a Funk mode at the end of the road, scanning almost every possible style inbetween: from acoustic numbers with spacious keyboards to a somewhat Gentle Giant-like Jazz Funk and from romantic Italian melodies to pleasant Electronic Rock with some Lounge aethetics. Obvious instruments used were analog synthesizers, drums (although with a very robotic sound), bass and electric piano and guitars. First side is more on the Fusion side of things with strong Funk and Jazz influences (and discreet echoes of the emerging Disco scene), the second one being dominated by keyboard tricks and varied acoustics. (apps79)
